BattV - Battery Regulation
The Batty Regulation is intended to reduce the entry of pollutants in waste batteries by banning the placing on the market of certain batteries containing pollutants.
Furthermore, it stipulates that used batteries must be taken back and properly recycled in accordance with the provisions of the Closed Substance Cycle and Waste Management Act, or that non-recyclable batteries must be disposed of in a manner that is compatible with the common good. It also stipulates that batteries should be reusable and manufactured to last.
Electrical and Electronic Equipment Law (ElektroG)
From 24 March 2006, end users are obliged to return their old devices to public waste authorities free of charge, marked with the symbol of the ‘crossed-out wheelie bin’, as these may no longer be disposed of in household waste!
VerpackV – Packaging Regulations.
Sales packaging is packaging that is ‘offered as a sales unit and accumulates at the end consumer’. Manufacturers or distributors of the products are obliged to take back packaging waste either in the shop or in the immediate vicinity free of charge (so-called self-disposal) or to participate in a comprehensive system that collects the packaging waste from the private final consumer or in the immediate vicinity (so-called dual systems such as the ‘Green Dot’ Duales System Deutschland AG or the ‘RESY’ symbol).
