LC connector (Local Connector), which is very common and used for switches with SFP port. The LC connector is very widely used nowadays, as its small size and reliable performance in most applications. Mainly the LC connector is used in data centres, industrial networking or fibre for "home", inside the house/apartment to enable lightning fast data transfers to the NAS (network data storage). The LC connector is connected to the SFP port of the network switch, which is equipped with an SFP port GBIC module.

A distinction is also made between SFP singlemode, SFP multimode and SFP copper (Ethernet). Single-mode glass fibre is mainly used over several kilometres on company premises or Internet providers.
